I just got done running the Broad Street Run, which is a ten mile race in Philadelphia. I had been Crossfitting on my own for 3 months, and then as fortune would have it, a Crossfit Affiliate, EvoFit, opened in South Jersey. I started training with EvoFit in April. I was so into training with Greg, Steve, and Erin (the 3 Crossfit trainers), that I forgot about training for the Broad Street.

I ran only twice in the month leading up to the run - both for 7 miles. I was going to Crossfit 4 times a week. My best run time prior to this year was 1:44:52. This year I ran it in 1:22:18. That's going from 10.5 minute miles to a little under 8.5 minute miles. I fully attribute my success to the ***-kicking I get every time I go to Crossfit. Many thanks to Greg, Steve, and Erin - keep up the great work!!!

The Crossfit method has been a fantastic experience for me. It's taken me further than I ever expected to go, and helped me to achieve more strength, endurance, and sheer self-confidence than I imagined was possible. No matter what level of fitness and strength you have, it's always challenging. If you can't do a pull up, you'll learn how to do one; when you can do ten pull ups, you'll learn how to do twenty.

I've been doing it now for about six months. Erin started me with work outs focused on strength (increasingly complex exercises with weights, exercises focusing on form, technique, balance, and core strength), and then moved me to learning individual lifts, where we also focused on form and technique while gradually increasing the weights. At the same time she began to put me through some incredible paces with workouts that combine high metabolic activity with strength and new movements. The day that I could squat my own weight was an incredible bench mark, as was the day that I could do consecutive pull ups!

To be able to perform a lift at a high weight with perfect technique gives me a level of satisfaction I've had no where else in training. This is an inspiring and addictive system. The benefits are obvious, from the way you look to the way you feel. But beyond that, this is a system with an inner beauty and logic that I have come to love for its own sake.

Erin has been a brilliant and always compassionate instructor. She explains and demonstrates with great precision, teaching moves in a dynamic way so that you grasp not only the technique, but the physiology behind it. And the Cross Fit method is imaginative, with its named work outs--"Fran," "Linda," etc.--that keep you laughing while you're trying to do them.
